What is the Accessible Path
Location
The Accessible Path will be located in Parnitha, near the Bafi Mountaineering Refuge. It is the first forest mobility trail in Greece, designed specifically for people with disabilities and reduced mobility.
How it works
The path is specially designed to be accessible to people with limited mobility. It will have a specially designed floor for wheelchairs, wooden tables for stopping, litter bins and information signs for the comfort and safety of visitors.
Why it is important
The Trail allows people with limited mobility to enjoy nature and its beneficial properties. It promotes physical and mental health and enhances social inclusion by providing equal access to the natural environment.
Our vision is that the construction of the trail will be a pilot for the construction of mobility trails in the rest of Greece.
Planning - Coordination
The Trail is the result of a partnership between Access To Nature and the Hellenic Mountaineering Association of Athens. This partnership has been coordinating the whole process from the beginning and will continue to guide it until the completion and delivery of the trail.
The aim of Access To Nature is to promote the richness and specificities of the natural and cultural environment, through the prism of sustainable development. Participatory and non-discriminatory cooperation for the well-being and well-being of civil society.
The Hellenic Mountaineering Association of Athens (EOSA) is one of the oldest and best known mountaineering associations in Greece. With a history that spans over a century, the EOSA promotes the love of mountains and mountaineering by organising a variety of activities such as excursions, climbing and nature walks. The Association emphasizes the education of its members on the techniques and safety of mountaineering, while encouraging the preservation of the natural environment.
